Overview

Viserion Grain, LLC is seeking a hands-on and strategic General Manager to lead our new 5V LLC shuttle train grain facility in Dalhart, Texas. This facility is positioned to meet the growing demand for feed in the region and represents a key strategic asset to complement the partners’ existing grain, merchandising, and feed businesses.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, leveraging their strong local presence, and collaborating with Viserion Grain’s merchandising team to optimize grain flows and commercial performance. The General Manager will be responsible for the overall operations and commercial activities at the Dalhart site, reporting directly to the Director of Viserion Grain.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead all aspects of day-to-day operations of the grain facility, including receiving, storing, blending, and shipping grain, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Sets a positive example for employees by modeling safe work practices and following safety rules and policies. Communicated safety information to employees by conducting regular safety training, monitors workplace for unsafe/noncompliant behavior. Manage truck logistics, coordinating closely with Viserion Grain’s rail trading team and trucking partners.
  • Supervise facility staff, including operations, maintenance, and administrative support; foster a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork, working closely with Viserion Grain Operations Managers.
  • Ensure effective maintenance, housekeeping, and safety programs are in place, remain compliant, and executed to the highest standards.
  • Track grain inventories, monitor grain quality, and identify local opportunities.

Commercial Execution

  • Coordinate and organize grain demand from Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, LLC, serving as the local commercial point of contact for their feedyards.
  • Work with Viserion Grain to sell corn and products, with a focus on truck arbitrage and trading opportunities with third-party buyers and sellers.
  • Originate truck grain, ensuring timely and profitable transactions that align with merchandising strategy.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Monitor operating expenses and manage the budget while identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost reduction.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of administrative tasks, including contract entry, ticketing, inventory reconciliation, settlements, and month-end reporting.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with company policies and grain industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in grain elevator or grain merchandising operations; experience in shuttle train or grain facilities preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage both operational and commercial responsibilities.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of grain origination, merchandising, logistics, and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with grain accounting and elevator management systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NGFA rules, grain contracts, hedging concepts, and grain quality standards is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to meet established deadlines.

Physical Requirments

  • Frequently required to: sit for prolonged periods of time, reach for/manipulate standard office equipment, communicate with various staff and/or reach for and manipulate objects.
  • Occasionally climbs stairs and ladders, working at heights of up to 200 feet with appropriate safety equipment.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds.
