Overview

The QA Engineer will help ensure that Otto team’s software products meet high standards of quality, performance, and usability. This role includes reviewing requirements, creating and executing test cases, and working closely with the team to identify, document, and resolve issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, as well as the ability to provide clear feedback on product quality. Success in this role requires solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with team members to understand product requirements and create testing documentation.
  • Write clear, well-structured test cases based on requirements and system documentation.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results to identify and report defects.
  • Document test results and share concise feedback with the development team.
  • Report bugs and errors through Teams, Jira, or GitHub as appropriate.
  • Contribute to test planning and test strategy discussions to support product quality.
  • Create and maintain test scripts for manual and automated testing.
  • Provide feedback to improve user experience and help ensure site standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience in quality assurance or software testing.

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and/or Ruby on Rails is a plus.
  • Understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright similar testing tools.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is preferred.

Physical Requirments

  • Frequently required to: sit for prolonged periods of time, reach for/manipulate standard office equipment, communicate with various staff and/or reach for and manipulate objects.
